morning (Palm Sunday).
The Easter story was presented in readings, song and music in
First Lisburn Presbyterian Church last Sunday morning.
Co-ordinated by Jonny McGeown, the Palm Sunday event was
entitled 'Stauros'. The soloists were Lyndsay Parr, Karen Orr,
Keith Lunn and Nicky Parks and the readers were Joyce Moran,
Karin Finlay, Douglas Anderson and Richard McNeight. In
welcoming the large congregation and visitors, the minister, the
Rev John Brackenridge gave the call to worship and opened in
prayer. The overture was Jesus Christ Superstar; solo items
were: 'Stauros', 'Leader of the band', 'Gethsemane (I only want
to say)', 'The Trial', 'Bridge over troubled water', 'Judas',
'Testimony of the guard', 'Easter' and 'Jesus Alive'; choir
items were 'I want to know what love is', 'My Lord, He is a-comin'
soon', 'I'm coming home' and the congregational hymns were 'How
great the father's love for us' and 'Day by Day'. The readings
were: The Carpenter, Footprints in the sand, Sentences on
leadership, Gethsemane 1914-1918 (Rudyard Kipling), Pilate's
soliloquy' and How long, O Lord'; the Scripture readings were
from Corinthians 13, Jeremiah 31, Psalm 23, John 10, Matthew 26,
Matthew 27 and Isaiah 53.
