A Thanksgiving Weekend got underway at Christ Church Parish last Friday evening (3rd October) with a Youth Harvest. The Preacher was the Rev Willy Nixon, Rector of Carryduff, and the Youth For Christ team also took part in the service; the church's youth organisations brought gifts for the local Simon Community hostel.

On Sunday morning (5th October) the Rector, the Rev Paul Dundas conducted a service of Holy Communion; the preacher at Morning Worship was Canon Sam Wright, Lisburn Cathedral and the preacher at Evening Prayer was the Senior Minister, the Rev John Pickering. Sunday school teachers served a 'Soup Lunch' in the church hall after the morning service and a thank offering was lifted for the work of the Sunday School and the charity Heartbeat. Following the lunch, the Sunday school children sang, 'Thank you Lord for this fine day'; they were conducted by Zoe Crowe and accompanied by Claire Thompson (keyboard) and Timothy Crangle (Guitar).
