THE Wallace High School Honours students were invited by Hillsborough Castle Household manager, Mr. Matthew Laird, to sing at the UK Citizenship ceremony recently.

The ceremony was officiated by the Queen's representative, in this case, Mrs. Joan Christie who was the official guest at Prize Day in 2009 and who welcomed the pupils to the Castle. The morning began with a rehearsal, which took place in the Wallace Preparatory Department where the Honours sang through some of the works in front of the young students, who seemed to very much enjoy the experience, before their departure to the Castle. The Honours performed in the Throne room to an audience of friends of the new citizens. The repertoire consisted of works by, among others; Durufle, Weelkes, and McGlynn.

Soloists included Nadine Simpson, Chloe Webb, Amy Jamison and Zach Trouton. The Ceremony was closed by the Honours students singing the National Anthem, acappella in four parts before a guided tour of the Castle by Mr. Laird.
