Drew the new Garvey coach

Drew Campbell (Men's 1st XI Head Coach), with William Brown, Lisnagarvey Chairman.FORMER Ulster and Irish under 16 Coach Drew Campbell has been appointed the new head coach of Lisnagarvey Hockey Club.

"This is a great opportunity for me as the club enters a new chapter and I am very excited by the prospect of the role," said Drew. "Garvey has a great history and future with a lot of talented young players coming through. Indeed I have worked with several of the current squad at Ulster and Irish level and it will be great to team up with them again and help them develop further."

Drew brings a wealth of experience to his new role having coached at Ulster under 16, Irish under 16 and was assistant coach for the Senior Irish Ladies which included their World Cup Qualifying campaign in Rome in 2006. A school teacher at Parkhall College in Antrim and living in Aghalee, Drew is a past coach at the club at both youth and Men's 2nd XI level. Drew spent two seasons coaching in the Premiership before taking time out last season.

Chairman William Brown commented: "Many applications were received for the position of head coach at Garvey from within Ireland and beyond. It was evident form speaking to Drew that with his passion for hockey and his views on the future of the club, that he was indeed the right person for the job.

Drew has the full support of the players and management of the club as we continue to develop our young squad and look to build for the future".
