Steven Lewsey presents a cheque for £380 to Margaret Wade and Maureen Milan of the Mid Antrim Animal Sanctuary. The money was donated in memory of Steven's daughter Elyce Lewsey. US0609-115A0Elyce LewseyTHE family of a 16-year-old Lisburn girl who lost her life in a road accident after an evening out with friends last year have presented a cheque for £380 to Mid- Antrim Animal Sanctuary in her memory.

Steven Lewsey handed over the cheque to staff at the Antrim based charity in memory of his beloved daughter Elyce, who was tragically killed as she walked along the Stoneyford, Rock Road junction on the night of October 31 last year.

Steven, from Oakridge Crescent in Lisburn, presented the money which was collected from donations collected by Bobby Morrison Funeral Directors, following Elyce's funeral. Elyce, who attended Lisnagarvey High School, was a keen animal lover who herself owned two dogs Daisy and Poppy whom she adored. Her father said the family decided to donate the money to a charity that works for the welfare of animals because it was something very close to his daughter's heart.

She was described by her father as a 'typical normal teenager' whose loss has devastated her family.

"This is something that Elyce would have wanted us to do with the money," Steven said. "She was a real animal lover."
