Matthew to run marathon for Tinylife

Councillor Matthew McDermott A LISBURN Councillor and his party colleague will take to the streets as theyMLA Alex Attwood join the crowds and compete in the Lisburn Half Marathon and help raise funds for Carryduff based charity Tinylife.

Councillor Matthew McDermott and SDLP West Belfast MLA Alex Attwood are looking forward to participating and at the same time raise money for the charity.

Matthew" who, having completed the West Belfast fun run earlier in the year" has developed an interest in road running. With a young son himself" he is aware of the vital services provided by TinyLife and for so many" they are a lifeline.

He said; "TinyLife has helped many people" including some of my colleagues. Those colleagues have spoken of the professionalism" excellence and support they received. I want to help this charity that does so much for so many" in whatever small way I can."

Mr Attwood is a regular marathon runner" having competed in the Belfast" London, New York and Boston Marathons and is only too delighted to be taking part in the Lisburn marathon.

He said: "As a father of two, I fully appreciate the work that

an organisation like TinyLife does. I wanted to contribute in this small way as the work of TinyLife is invaluable to the people it helps."

Funds raised by Alex and Matthew will be used to fund medical research into the causes of premature birth" stillbirth and miscarriage" provide information to health professionals and ensure families of premature babies receive the emotional and practical support they need.
