Lisburn Road Safety Committee host Primary School Quiz 2009

Promoting the theme of safer road use for everyone, Lisburn Road Safety Committee hosted the 2009 Primary School Quiz in the Lagan Suite, Lisburn Leisureplex last Wednesday morning (4th March). Taking part were ten teams of four P6 and P7 children from eight Primary Schools - Ballycarrickmaddy, Brownlee, Friends’ Prep Department, Killowen, Largymore, Meadow Bridge, Old Warren and St Josephs. Councillor Andrew Ewing (Vice Chairman of LRSC) welcomed the children, teachers and principals and conduced the quiz; and following refreshments announced the winners:

First Prize: Meadow Bridge Primary School with team members - Bethany Henry, Danielle Davis, Thomas Latimer, Katie Walker and Lauren Tate winning £20 each and £100 for their school.

Second Prize: Ballycarrickmaddy Primary School with team members - Thomas Storey, Erin Loughran, Susan Rutter and Nathan Kelly winning £15 each.

Third Prize: Friends’ Prep Department with team members - Sarah Mills, Josh Victor, Olivia Baxter and Emma Gordon winning £10 each.

The three winning teams will go on to the final in Ballymena Showground on 19th March.

After the distribution of prizes, Constable Stevie Wright (Hillsborough RPU) gave a talk on police equipment used to prevent collisions; and Karen Mawhinney (National Standard Cycle Instructor) followed with a talk entitled ‘Be safe on your bike’.
