‘Ulster Scots Gala and Dinner’ marks the 319th Anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne

The Worshipful Master, officers and brethren of Lisburn District Loyal Orange Lodge No 6 hosted an ‘Ulster Scots Gala and Dinner’ in Lisburn Orange Hall on Friday 26th June to mark the occasion of the 319th Anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne. The invitation was extended to all office bearers of the South Antrim Combine, which consists of a total of 70 lodges from the following seven districts: Aghalee LOL No 2, Ballinderry LOL No 3, Glenavy LOL No 4, Lisburn LOL No 6, Magheragall LOL No 9, Derriaghy LOL No 11 and Hillsborough LOL No 19. Officers from Hillsborough LOL No 19 were unable to attend due the opening of the arch and mini twelfth parade in Hillsborough on the same evening.

Worshipful Bro John Burleigh (Past District Master) compered the evening of great entertainment. Taking part in the programme were Zephaniah Dancers, Magheragall Pipe Band and Lisburn Young Defenders, which included a solo Irish dancing performance by Naomi Orr, drum major of the band. The speakers, which included Bro Fred Willoughby (Worshipful District Master), Lagan Valley MP Jeffrey Donaldson and Alderman Paul Porter (Deputy Mayor), spoke of the privilege of the Lisburn District LOL No 6 to host the Twelfth demonstration in this the historic occasion of the 400th Anniversary of the founding of Lisburn.
