SATURDAY August 13 and Sunday August 14 are big days on the Irish Kart racing scene for local drivers when they will take on the biggest meeting of the year, the Irish Kart Grand Prix at Nutts Corner Circuit (Dundrod Rd).

The Young Racing and Ulster Karting Club promoted event will be for all classes in the sport including the incredibly fast 160mph capable Superkarts. These classes of course have seen drivers from the province go on to World, European and many British and Irish championships and with the new circuit surface already resulting in a new lap record this season then hopes are high again for some super fast action.

Amongst these will be defending Northern Ireland champion Liam Fox from Lisburn in the 250cc Superkart class. Fox set the new circuit record at Easter and will be keen to take the GP title.

Dromore's Philip Mills and Hillsborough's Noel Lindsay will also be keen to take top places in the 125cc Superkart class. Lindsay currently holds second overall in the Ulster Championships and is still in with a crack at the class title.

All the non-gearbox driven classes will be out in force also with everything from the Junior Cadets to the Senior Rotax Max in action and based on recent race meetings they too will be putting the new circuit layout through its paces.

In the Junior classes Glenavy's Jack Mc-Gaughey will start as favourite in the Cadets class. Young McGaughey has had a superb season to date and leads the Ulster Championships after winning in his last meeting at the circuit. There should be plenty of pressure though from Castlereagh's Jack Young who has also been showing of his form at National level in the British championships.

Lisburn's William Creighton will also be keen to secure a podium in the Mini Max class and Dunmurry brothers Kyle and Jay White will both be after podiums in the Junior Honda class.

Ryan Young will also be all out for success and with his brother in the running in the Cadets class then it will be a big weekend for the Young Racing team.
