Field Marshall secure new sponsors

FIELD Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band has announced a 3-year £50,000 sponsorship deal with the St. Kilda Group based in Glasgow.
The sponsorship is the first of its kind for the band. In a statement the business team of the band said that FMPB is delighted to have the opportunity to work with people committed to quality and excellence in their fields.
They are looking forward to having the opportunities to demonstrate to companies that serve the pipe band community, the value of investing within that community.
The St. Kilda group, which includes manufacturers and wholesale companies such as Gaelic Themes and Piping Themes, will provide a range of products and service to promote and enhance the global image of the band.
The St. Kilda Group's MD Scott Chalmers said: "The professionalism and undoubted qualities of the playing personnel will assist the Group in all of our business activities, seeking to improve existing product lines and develop new and innovative products."
Grade 2 Seven Towers Pipe Band has appointed a new Leading Tip and new Bass Drummer to lead their drum corps section for the 2006 season. Stephen Purvis will take over the drumming leadership from long serving member Michael Cathcart who was instrumental in leading the drum corps to many successful victories over the grades. He will continue playing in the band and supporting Stephen in his new role.
The new Bass Drummer is Winston Mateer whose father was the Leading Drummer with McNeillstown Pipe band for many years.
Entries have now closed for the first of this year's solo events. The Seven Towers Country Antrim championships will take place in Bailee Community High School Ballymena on Saturday March 4 commencing at 12noon.

The second of this year's Branch Meetings will take place on Saturday February 25 at the Bridge Community Centre Lisburn commencing at 2.00pm. Then on March 11 the 2006 Annual General Meeting will take place in Glasgow. To date there are only a few names down to attend the AGM, but there is still time left if anyone wishes to go. Perhaps one of the reasons for such a poor number of representatives wishing to travel over to Scotland could be that all the NI notices of motions were turned down by the National Council in Scotland as they deemed they weren't in the best interest of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association.
Maybe some light on the reasons why will be explained at the Branch meeting on February 25.
