NIAMH McGOWAN

NIAMH McGowanNIAMH McGowan, 19 from Lisburn is currently on a year out getting experience in theatre and performing as she is auditioning for theatre schools at the moment. She is playing Calamity Jane in the show 'Calamity Jane' with Fusion Theatre which will be performed in the Island Arts Centre in Lisburn from January 28 -31.

What do you like doing on your day off?
I like to do a little shopping or catching up with friends I haven't seen for a while, you'd think a year out would mean you were less busy but that's not the case!

If you were to choose your favourite meal what would it be, where and why?
At the minute that would definitely be a cheese pizza with side salad from pizza express - best food to ever touch my lips.

What has been your proudest moment?
Probably being accepted into a drama school this year- there are thousands of applicants and only 30 places, its extremely hard to get in and this year I was successful.

How would you describe your taste in clothes?
Casual and colourful. I love bold colours. I also have developed a scarf fetish, good for the winter months.

What would you do if you won a million pounds?
Give some to family and friends, give some to charity and store some for living on as a struggling actor!

What was your most embarrassing moment?
Probably when I had a conversation with someone who was utterly convinced I was my twin sister and I hadn't the heart to say otherwise.

What music do you like?
Musicals, Pink, Kelly Clarkson and Feist. Really I like a bit of everything apart from heavy metal and most R n B songs.

Describe your best ever holiday. What would your dream holiday be?
It was when I went to do a project with the National Youth Theatre in London and I met people who were as theatre mad as I was. I have remained firm friends with them since and I got to work with some amazing directors. My dream holiday would have to include theatre in some way in London.

What is your greatest remaining ambition?
To act. It's been my ambition from a young age and I'm still trying to follow it now.

If you could spend a day with a celebrity whom would you choose?
Either Kate Winslet because I find her inspiring, or Holly Willoughby because she is so charismatic as a presenter and I'd hope she'd be like that off camera.

If you were stranded on a desert island what three things would you want with you?
A plane, a 'how to fly a plane' manual and a giant bottle of water.
