Despair to resurrection
Compiled by Wm Richer

The wrought iron arch and gates depicted were originally at the pavement edge when shops and offices screened the church from the road, a practice common with many Presbyterian churches in earlier years.

The gates were moved to their present position in 1970 following the demolition of the shops and offices and the building of the new church front. The original main doors of the church, then at the side of the building, were removed but the lamp which lit the entrance is still in regular use on the corner of the manse.
