THE recent St Colm's prize giving presented the opportunity for 120 of the school's pupils to gain recognition for their achievements in not only the academic area but the sporting and community fields as well.

The Twinbrook school had a lot to celebrate with 61% of its year 12 pupils achieving 5 + GCSEs at grades A*-C and 97% of its A level students attaining A-E in at least two subjects which again ensures that the school stays in the top 5% of schools in its category in the North of Ireland.

The Monsignor Thomas Bartley award to the top GCSE student went to Ciara Rogan for consistently high grades across all GCSE subjects.

One of the most sought after awards was the Michael Ferguson Colin Neighbourhood Partnership Award for "Attitude through Adversity" which was presented to Year 9 student Andrew Arbuckle.
School principal Ms. Imelda Jordan praised the students for their hard work and dedication which ensured the school remained to the forefront of educational innovation and achievement.

"It is absolutely amazing in a area of high social and economic deprivation that St Colm's pupils consistently defy the odds to make this the excellent school that it is and one that has gained the highest accolades from the Education and Training Inspectorate in its inspection report" she said.

"This school, your parents and the community are immensely proud of your achievements. This school expects nothing but the best from its pupils and yet again they have delivered. In conjunction with the Lisburn Area Education Partnership we now offer 15 A level courses which has led to St Colms greatest ever Post 16 enrolment. We therefore look forward to an equally successful year next year."
