Service of Commissioning of Parish Readers in St. Columba�s, Derryvolgie

Four new Parish Readers Commissioned

Four new Parish Readers, Dorothy Jackson - St Columba�s Derryvolgie, Brian Littler - Christ Church Parish Lisburn, John Williams - St Colman�s Dunmurry and James Newberry - St Patrick�s Jordanstown were licensed at a Service of Commissioning in St. Columba�s Church, Derryvolgie on  Sunday evening 4th June.  The office and work of a Parish Reader is to read morning and evening prayers, and to assist at Holy Communion and other services at the discretion of the Rector.  The Rector of St Columba�s, the Rev Donna Quigley, led the service and delivered a meaningful  sermon; Mrs Jean Parkinson read the Scripture Lesson; Jack Hassard offered prayers of Intercessions and Thanksgiving; and the Rev Canon George Irwin - Warden of Readers, conducted the Act of Commissioning.
