Good Friday 'Carrying of the Cross' march of witness in Lisburn

The annual Good Friday 'Carrying of the Cross' march of witness was held in Lisburn city centre on Friday afternoon 21st March. The procession gathered at the lower end of Bow Street then made its way along Bow Street to Market Square for a short act of worship led by the Lisburn City Centre Ministers. Taking part in the procession and act of worship were: Rev Kenneth McGrath (Lisburn Cathedral), Rev John Brackenridge (First Lisburn), Fr Dermot McCaughan (St Patrick's), Pastor George Hilary (Lisburn Christian Fellowship), Rev Brian Anderson (Seymour Street), Rev Brian Gibson (Railway Street), Rev Dianne Matchett (Christ Church) and Rev Paul Dundas (Christ Church).

The verse of Scripture printed on the programme issued to all gathered for the short act of worship, highlighted the reason for the season, 'I have come that they might have life, and have it to the full'. The Easter hymns sang were 'When I survey the wondrous cross' and 'Amazing Grace'. The Rev Brian Anderson, minister of Seymour Street Methodist, chose as the subject for his Good Friday address, 'Nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus'.
