Simon
Genoe was ordained for the Curacy of Lisburn Cathedral at a service in
St Patrick’s Church, Ballymena, on Wednesday 24th June 2009. Simon grew
up in Monaghan, where he attended St Patrick’s Church of Ireland. He
came to faith at a camp in Avoca Manor in Wicklow when he was 13 years
old and in 2000, during a Church Missionary Society Ireland (CMSI) trip
to Kenya, he felt a strong call to ordained ministry in the Church of
Ireland. In the ensuing years, he attended Stranmillis University
College, Belfast (2002-2006) where he obtained a Bachelor in Education,
before progressing to the Church of Ireland Theological Institute,
Dublin, where he recently completed a degree in theology. Having begun
ministering in Lisburn, Simon is excited by what God has called him here
to do and is enthusiastic about serving in the Cathedral and the wider
community.
