A LOCAL man is gearing up to go to South India this summer to help communities left devastated by the Tsunami in 2004.

Christopher Wright, 28, is one of a team of 10 volunteers from the Boys' Brigade in Northern Ireland who in partnership with Habitat for Humanity Northern Ireland will help to rebuild homes and lives in the communities of South India where 187,650 people have been affected by the Boxing Day disaster.

The 1st Magheragall Boys' Brigade Officer, who is a farmer, is no stranger to hard physical work and is looking forward to the challenge. He said: "The environment and conditions will be very different from what I am used to - I'm sure it will be tough but rewarding work.

"To help a family to rebuild their home is a wonderful opportunity and I'm really up for the challenge."

Christopher is trying to raise funds for the project through various events. One such event is a `Ladies Night' in Ballinderry Presbyterian Church on Wednesday March 28 at 7.15pm.
