THE ANNUAL Hilden Beer and Music Festival last weekend was another roaring success with 2000 people passing through the doors to sample the best beers and music the brewery has to offer.

The festival, in its 9th year, attracted visitors from across the province and beyond to sample its extensive selection of independently brewed beers from around the UK and Ireland.

It boasted a selection of 30 different beers from independent breweries, as well as five of the best ales that Hilden had to offer.

After paying a fee at the door, the thirsty visitors were directed towards the brewing rooms, where kegs of ale were lined-up waiting to be sampled.

Visitors were also treated to a barbecue, served up by Lisburn's very own Masterchef, Jonny Stevenson and live music while they supped on their pints.

The festival opened on Friday with an evening of "Brews and Blues", with bands including The Ronnie Greer Blues Band and The Roy Fulton Band.

Saturday's performances included The Delawares and The Gerry O'Neill Band, but the highlight of the evening was the eclectic, electric Red Hot Roosters, who rocked the socks off the crowded dance floor, followed by the fabulous Southbound to close.

Sunday opened on a more relaxing note with The Victor Curry Jazz Band chilling the crowd, but the pace was soon picked-up and by the end of the evening the crowd descended on the dance floor as Caledonia, followed by Jinx closed the festival.

Frances Maguire, Manager of The Tap Room at the Hilden Brewery, said: "This year's festival has been a huge success and not even the weather could deter people from the 'live beer and real music'
