Annual SSAFA fund raiser during which
a cheque for 350.00 was presented to Women's Royal
Voluntary Service(WRVS). |
Big Brew at Thiepval Barracks. |
THE rain may have poured on the 'Big Brew' at
Thiepval Barracks, but a few gallons of coffee and several trays
of bacon rolls later the organisers had raised over 1000 for
the Soldiers, Sailors, Airman and Families Association (SSAFA).
SSAFA looks after the welfare of single young
soldiers and ensure that should they need help or support it is
there for them.
This is the second time that Janette Bennett,
the Community Coordinator at Thiepval Barracks has been involved
in the fund raising event. 'We are delighted that the Big Brew
has proved such a great success' she said.
"The turnout has been fantastic and SSAFA
Forces Help has been well supported here at Thiepval Barracks.
"It is such a worthwhile cause, especially at
a time when troops are serving overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan
and need as much support as possible from those at home."
During the event SSAFA handed over a cheque
for 350 raised from earlier fundraising efforts to Dolina
Darrington the welfare officer with the Womens Royal Voluntary
Service (WRVS) in Northern Ireland.
