GLORIA Hunniford is calling on adventurous
people in Lisburn to sign up for RNID's c trek and raise funds
for the charity's work for people who are deaf or hard of
hearing. Gloria, who is urging people to visit
www.rnid.org.uk/chinatrek and find out how to register for
the once-in-a-lifetime challenge, says: "By the time we reach
50, over 40% of us will experience some level of hearing loss,
which happens naturally as we get older.
"Hearing loss can have a profound impact on
everyday lives, but it is reassuring to know RNID is on hand to
provide crucial information and support. "By signing up for
RNID's Great Wall of China team, you'll not only have an
adventure of a lifetime hut you'll also be taking steps to raise
vital funds for RNID's campaigning work and range of services
around the country."
Prospective fundraisers from Lisburn can
claim a place in RNID's team for October 6 - 18 2009 trek by
paying a registration fee of 250 and raising a minimum of
2500. To register for a place, which are available on a first
come, first served basis, contact Caroline Jupe, on 0845 634
0687 (local rate) or email:
events@rnid.org.uk.
* If you are concerned that you have a
hearing loss, you can call RNID's simple, confidential,
five-minute telephone hearing check on 0845 600 5555 from a
landline and get an indication of your level of hearing. Taking
the check for both your ears could be your first step along the
road to hearing conversations with your family and friends more
clearly.
