THE Pan-Disability Lisburn Badminton Club
recently received the welcome news the Northern Bank's Employee
Charity Group had adjudged the Club to be a worthy recipient of
a financial donation to help purchase a sports-specific
wheelchair for the tournament-standard players at the Lisburn
Club. Katherine Morrow, Northern Bank
Senior Branch Manager (Lisburn), attended the
Pan-Disability Lisburn Badminton Club recently to present a
cheque to the value of 1,554 to wheelchair player Michael
Smith. This unbelievable gesture by the employees of the
Northern Bank means the Club has completed its quest to obtain
this essential equipment for its two wheelchair players so they
can compete at tournaments in the UK, Republic of Ireland,
Europe and hopefully at the World Championships in Korea in 2009
The purchase of a second badminton wheelchair was made possible
by the receipt of donations from other businesses in addition to
fundraising events held by the club itself.
