A WOMAN has described how her self confidence dramatically improved after attending courses at the parents centre run jointly by Footprints and St Luke's Primary School.

Rosalind Gouldie explained she started attending the centre in 2001 after being invited to do so by Miss Leonard, a member of St. Luke's teaching staff.

"Everyone will tell you that when I started I was very shy and wouldn't even speak to anyone, " she said. "But since completing the courses I have really come out of my shell and I have so much more confidence now. I have also made so many good friends."

Rosalind was speaking as Footprints and St.Lukes held a joint celebration to mark the achievements of the course participants.

Eileen Wilson, Refresh Catering Manager at Footprints Womens Centre said she was delighted by how well the parents had performed.

She said the event also marked the success of the partnership between St. Luke's and the local community.

" We would like to thank the school for all of their help and support in establishing the parents centre," she added.

DELIGHTED

Michael Keenan, Principal of St Luke's said he was delighted the celebration had taken place at his school.

He said it marked not only the achievements of all those who participated in the courses but also the hard work and dedication of staff from both the school and Footprints Centre.

"The St. Luke's Primary School/Footprints Women's Centre joint project has been hugely successful and I hope that it will continue to grow from strength tc strength," he added.

The certificates which were presented by one of Footprints founding members Frankie McNally recognised the parents' achievements in Volunteering, ICT, Skills Development and a Good Relations Programme.
