Natalie McCullagh, Alastair

of The Boyfriend'. |
Twiggy as she looked during her
modelling career. |
THE search is on at Laureihill Community
College for someone to follow in the footsteps of world famous
model 'Twiggy' by taking the lead role in the school's
production of 'The Boyfriend' due to be staged in December.
Many of the hopefuls currently auditioning
for the part of Polly Browne may not realise Twiggy Lawson, now
one of the stars of Marks and Spencers' advertising campaign,
played the character in the screen version of the show 36 years
ago.
All the auditionees are keen to show they are
stars of the future and whoever is given the part is sure to
lead a strong cast. The school took first place in the Lisburn
Arts
Advisory Committee's 2008 Drama Prize and
staff hope 'The Boyfriend' will do the same.
The plot of The Boyfriend revolves around
Polly, the Assistant Stage Manager of a small time theatrical
company who is forced to understudy for the leading lady (Rita)
at a matinee performance at which an illustrious Hollywood
director (Cecil B. DeThrill) is in the audience scouting for
actors to be in his latest 'all-talking, all-dancing,
all-singing' extravaganza.
Polly also happens to fall in love with the
leading man (Tony) so if you want to find out what happens make
sure you book your seats at Laurelhill in December.
