THE Lisburn Committee of Cancer Research raised over £3,000 when they hosted a Fashion Show in the Village Centre at Hillsborough on October 7.

The well known fashion house of SD Kells contributed to an event, which included fashion for all ages and occasions.

Under the guidance of Jean Cochrane, models showed off the latest fashions on the catwalk, with music provided by schoolboy helper Connor Dickson.

Generous gifts from a variety of local firms and individuals donated towards the ballot, which included two dresses kindly given by SD Kells.

The 250 strong audience greatly appreciated the display of fashion and also the light supper served during the interval.

CANCER

The Cancer Research Committee was delighted to raise a total of £3,285 at the event This money will be used to progress the pioneering work of scientists into the causes and cures of this widespread illness. The audience was pleased to meet one of these scientists, Dr Irena Proutski, who kindly gave a short address about her work and graciously handed over some of the ballot prizes to the winners.

At the close of the evening spot prizes, provided by SD Kells, were distributed. The Committee members were pleased to receive thanks for their endeavours from Kevin Harper, the Area Volunteer Manager of Cancer Research, and Helen Barnes the Local Engagement & Development Manager.
