THE Grand Opera House has announced its exciting new season - filled with a sprinkling of everyone's favourite things.
Undoubtedly the highlight of the forthcoming season, The Sound of Music, runs from Wednesday February 24 to Saturday March 20. Connie Fisher stars in what is regarded by many as one of the best loved musicals of all time, in a production that comes direct from the London Palladium.
Another true West End hit arrives on Monday May 24, as the stage adaptation of Tim Firth's smash-hit film, Calendar Girls, takes to the Grand Opera House stage for one week only. Based on the true story of ordinary women with an extraordinary idea, Calendar Girls has become a much enjoyed global phenomenon. Another screen to stage adaption, Porridge, arrives on Tuesday January 26 to Saturday January 30. Based on the iconic BBC TV show this will be the first ever professional stage production of the side-splitting series, starring Shaun Williamson, better known as Barry from Eastenders, as Fletcher.
Other shows include Foster and Allen, Hugo Duncan and friends and Our Jimmy, as well as Sing-A-Long High School Musical, The Freshmen Unzipped, Haunted, Beauty and the Beast, Give My Head Peace and Rocky Horror Show, a lot more besides.
