HOUSING Executive employee, Ann Kerr, who works in the Antrim Street Office, recently completed a charity swim of 22 miles in her local swimming pool.
The swim equates to the distance across the English Channel, and was undertaken by Ann as part of the Aspire Channel Swim to raise funds to help people with spinal cord injury.
Ann explained: "The Aspire Channel Swim took place between September and December last year, and participants were asked to swim the equivalent of 22 miles over a 12 week period.
"I swam, on average, about two to three miles a week which was 1416 lengths of the pool in the Lame Leisure Centre.
"I am grateful to the Larne Leisure Centre for supporting me by allowing me to use the pool free of charge, and to the many friends and work colleagues who sponsored my swim."
To date, Ann has raised £530 which will go some way to helping improve the life of people with spinal cord injury.
The swim has also helped improve her own health and fitness.
The Aspire Channel Swim was supported by six-times World Swimming Champion Mark Foster, who said: "Participants will become fitter as well as helping to make a big difference by supporting people with spinal injuries. Swimming is for everyone and on a regular basis increases stamina and keeps your heart and lungs healthy too."
