The quarterly meeting of Largymore Royal Black District Chapter No 9 was held in Ballygowan Orange Hall on Friday evening 19th June. Sir Knt Ian Patterson WDM presided and Sir Knt Tom Wilkinson occupied the vice chair. The Chapter was opened in the usual form by Sir Knt Robert Orr District Lay Chaplain. Before proceeding with the business the WDM extended a very hearty welcome to the visiting Sir Knights from County Down Grand Black Chapter, Lisburn RBDC No1, Iveagh RBDC No1 and Saintfield RBDC No 12. Apologies were received from Sir Knt Millar Farr the most Worshipful Sovereign Grand Master, Sir Knt John Smith DCGM and Sir Knt Mathew Tinsley DDM Lisburn RBDC No 1.

During the meeting the WDM asked Sir Knt Sidney Wilson PDM PCM IDGM to present Lectures certificates to Sir Knt’s William Fulton, Roy Lawerence and William Hall. The usual business having been transacted the WDM thanked all the members for their support during his term in office over the last two years. He then asked Sir Knt Jack Fairburn CGM to take the chair and Sir Knt Kenneth Hull PDM Lisburn RBDC No 1 to occupy the vice chair and install the Officers for the ensuing year. Sir Knt’s George McLaughlin and Mervyn Proctor acted as Deacons and the Officers were introduced by Sir Knt Francis Beckett PDM Lisburn RBDC No 1.

The main Office bearers for 2009-2010 are as follows: Sir Knt Tom Wilkinson (Worshipful District Master), Sir Knt Stephen Law (Deputy District Master), Sir Knt Rev Gerry Sproule (District Chaplain), Sir Knt Robert Orr (District Lay Chaplain), Sir Knt Ron Pedlow (District Registrar), Sir Knt Peter Lindsay (Deputy District Registrar), Sir Knt Ken Gardner (District Treasurer) and Sir Knt Roy Lawerence (District Foreman of Committee). The newly installed officers having taken up their positions, a vote of thanks to the installing officers was proposed by Sir Knt Stephen Law seconded by Sir Knt Robert Orr and conveyed by Sir Knt Tom Wilkinson WDM. The Officers suitable replied. Sir Knt Jack Fairburn CGM then presented Sir Knt Patterson with his Past Masters collarette on behalf of the District; Sir Knt Walter Tucker PDM on behalf of the members of RBP 1016 also presented a gift to Sir Knt Patterson. The Chapter was then closed and the Sir Knights were then served an enjoyable supper by the ladies committee of Ballygowan RBP 172.
