Students on the slopes |
GROUP of students from St. Patrick's High School flew off for a week of skiing in San Valentino, Italy last month.
Following the resounding success of last year's visit to Bulgaria, another trip was organised with pupils eager to improve on any skills gained last year, or to try the sport for the first time.
The students, aged from 14 to 17, enjoyed up to four hours of tuition from qualified instructors every day, with many progressing from Green to Blue and Red runs by the end of the week. Pupils also enjoyed a range of evening activities including ice skating, discos and sampling the famous Italian pizzas. On the final day extreme blizzard conditions meant that any skiing planned had to be cancelled, which was very disappointing. Instead a presentation ceremony was held to reward the students for their efforts during the week.
All agreed that the trip was an outstanding success and pupils are keen to organise another skiing holiday for next year.
