Style Divas are hosting a night in Hagues bar on Wednesday March 4 when women can bring along any unwanted clothing and accessories in exchange for something new.

The idea is to allow women to have a night out even in these difficult economic times and also to encourage the recycling of clothes.

Pauline Briggs and Diane Carter are the Style Divas behind the event.

Visitors to the Prima Gusto restaurant on Harry's Road got a surprise to see Hazel Collins and Gertie Reid dressed in Victorian costumes. The pair were promoting a special St Patrick's Day evening at the Village Centre, Hillsborough, entitled 'Corsets, Claret and Cuisine' in aid of War on Want, which will a wine lecture, cookery demonstrations and a Victorian fashion show. US0809-503cdPauline explained: 'All items receive points, depending on their label and style of item. Clothing form Primark and Matalan will understandably receive fewer points than those purchased in River Island, Debenhams and designer labels."

She continued: "Once your points have been accumulated from your donated items, you are welcome to 'swish' around the rails and select as many items as your points will allow you. However if a person does not use all their points they can carry them over to another venue or likewise if they don't have enough points they can buy extra at 50p a point."

"Each venue is set up like a regular boutique with all types of clothes, shoes, bags and accessories

At each event we also bring a local hairdresser and beautician to give free advice and demonstrations on anyone who wants to volunteer to be the 'guinea pig' for the evening," Pauline added.

The Lisburn event takes place upstairs in 'Hagues bar' from 7.30-9.30pm, the fee is £6 on the evening or £5 if tickets are bought in advance. For more information contact Pauline on 07751050190.
