LISBURN soldier, Captain Eric Bleakley, has thanked everyone who helped his Battery raise over £8500 for charity. Eric, who is Battery Second in Command of a Battery of Royal Artillery soldiers on operations in Afghanistan, had appealed to local people to help his team raise money for the Army Benevolent Fund.
The team were sponsored to push a Mock UAV around Camp Bastion in Afghanistan and they were delighted with the response.
"All the guys did an outstanding job giving up what down time they had to take turns at pushing the Mock UAV around Camp Bastion," explained Eric. "The race started at 2pm on the Friday and finished at 2pm on the Saturday.
"The target we set out to achieve was £5000 and with all the support out there we ended up raising over £8500. As you can imagine the boys are over the moon with the public support. A massive thank you to all who supported us."
