Kids enjoying some music at the recent Drumlough Summer School |
DRUMLOUGH Pipe Band recently ran their first Ulster-Scots Summer School in Drumlough Orange Hall. The summer school attracted approximately 50 children from the local area. The children received a week of professional musical tuition in the bagpipes, various' drums, accordion, flute, fife, tin whistle, fiddle as well as other aspects of Ulster-Scots culture including language, cookery, history and various games.
The whole week was very hands on for the young people and there was a lot of general knowledge of the Ulster-Scots culture gained through the completion of workbooks throughout the week.
The band would like to thank the Ulster-Scots Agency for its financial support for this event and in particular Jane Wallace from the Ulster-Scots Agency for her support.
If anyone is interested in learning to play the bagpipes or drum, bagpipe and drum tuition is available every Friday evening in Drumlough Orange Hall at 7.30pm.
