ACTION Cancer is looking for volunteers from Lisburn to take part in a challenge along the Great Wall of China in April 2012. This is one of the world's most popular trekking trails and stretches 4,500 miles from the Gobi Desert to the mountains of Korea.
The route taken by the participants will boast stunning scenery, challenging walking and a fascinating insight into an ancient culture.
The ten day adventure begins and ends in Bejing which trekkers can explore at their leisure on the last day of the challenge.
The participants will cover approximately 60km in total with a
maximum daily distance of 13km.
And for August only Action Cancer are offering a special registration
rate for anyone who signs up in a pair.
The usual cost to register is £200 per person but anyone who can persuade a friend to join them can sign up for £100 each. Each participant is then asked to raise a minimum amount of sponsorship for their trekking efforts.
Leigh Chamberlain, Action Cancer's Events & PR Officer commented:
"Participants on overseas treks always return having achieved something
great as well as meeting a whole new group of friends.
Explore
Not only is it a great opportunity to raise funds and awareness for Action Cancer, it is a chance to explore one of the new wonders of the world with a great group of people who know exactly what you have been through."
Anyone who would like more information on this challenge can contact Leigh on 9080 3369 or email trek@actioncancer.org for an information pack.
There is also an information session being held on 22nd August in Action Cancer House. Contact Action Cancer if you would like to attend.
