HE'S the boy with the golden flute — Lisburn teenager Adam Higginson has been a musical prodigy since he first started playing the instrument when he was just nine years old.

Now the talented concert flautist, who is also an enthusiastic Cadet, is showcasing his considerable talents within the newly formed Corps of Drums of the 1st (Northern Ireland) Battalion Army Cadet Force.

Adam displayed his musical abilities recently when the new Corps of Drums made its debut at Hillsborough Castle, where his solo as well as his ensemble talents were on show.

According to the Corps' Musical Director, Captain Heidi Blackwood, he is "not only a delight to work with, but also a great inspiration to other Cadets."

She added: "He has a fantastic musical talent and isn't afraid to put in the practice time required to help him sail through exams and take performances in his stride."
