A LOCAL family who recently held a charity bag pack at Sainsburys have thanked everyone who supported the event.
The Laverty family decided to raise money for Asthma UK after their youngest member, Poppy, was diagnosed with the condition last year.
The bag pack at Sainsburys last weekend is the first in a series of events the family are planning and their fundraising drive got off to a fantastic start with the bag pack raising £1203.13 for the charity.
"We are so grateful to Sainsburys for allowing us to get our first event underway with them," said Michelle. "We met lots of lovely people and we got to hear other peoples struggle with asthma, including a member of staff in Sainsburys.
"Customers thanked us for doing the bag pack and for getting people to talk about the illness, one customer told us that all four of her children had asthma and she had found it very difficult. We were also asked questions and gave out the helpline number to someone concerned about a family member.
"I am really grateful to everyone who took part on Saturday, without our family and friends help we would never have raised such a great amount. Everyone worked really hard and we were all very proud to have took part in the event and also to have got to talk about the charity, what it does and how we can help make a difference to someone who suffers from Asthma. I would say it was a very successful day."
