Refurbished tennis courts open in the park

THE refurbished tennis courts - complete with new floodlights - have opened at Wallace Park.

Following months of construction work, as part of the overall refurbishment of Wallace Park, the courts have been given a face-lift with a new surface and the lights to encourage the next generatron of Any Murrays and Maria Sharapovas.

The chairman of Lisburn City Council's Leisure Services Committee, Councillor Thomas Beckett, said:

"It is very exciting to see the tennis courts back in use at Wallace Park. The Council has invested heavily in the park for the people of Lisburn and the reopening of the tennis courts is another step closer to the overall improvement works coming to an end.'

Brian Cushnie, Tennis Development Manager from Tennis Fundamentals said: "It is great to be back in Wallace Park with these excellent facilities that enable our club to run courses to encourage children to play and develop tennis".

The courts are now open for public use and can be booked through Glenmore Activity Centre on tel: 028 9266 2830 or email: reception.glenmore@lisburn.gov.uk.

The courts are open daily to 21st August (10am-8pm), 22nd-26th August (1pm-8pm) and from 27th August (10am-8pm).

The charges per hour to use the court are £5.50 (adult use) or £4.00 per hour (concessionary rate).
