HISTORY
In 1983, a group of men from Lisburn Baptist Church had planned a tent mission on the County Down side of the town but for some strange reason the owner of the field changed his mind and withdrew permission to erect the tent. After trying to no avail to find another site, they had a growing feeling that God might be directing their attention to the west side of the town and the tent was pitched in the field on the opposite side of the road to ‘Grettaville’. About this time, plans were published by the Department of the Environment for large-scale housing development in that area. In August 1988, ‘Grettaville’ came on the market and by the end of November of that year the farmhouse; immediately adjoining out-building and small plot of land (now the car park) had been acquired. Renovation and conversion plans were speedily drawn up and the building was opened on Saturday 29th April 1989.
Alistair Quigley, although still a member of the congregation, resigned as Assistant Pastor in December 2006. Pastor Robert Murdock accepted a call to serve in Emmanuel Baptist Church, Vernon, British Columbia, Canada and a Farewell Service for him and his family was held in Wallace High School on Friday 30th November 2007. The congregation are currently seeking a new Pastor.

Brief history as recorded in a book ‘Lisburn’s Rich Church Heritage’ by John Kelly;
In 1983, a group of men from Lisburn Baptist Church had planned a
tent mission on the Co Down side of the town, but for some strange
reason the owner of the field changed his mind and withdrew
permission to erect the tent. After failing to find another site,
they had a growing feeling that God might be directing their
attention to the west side of the town and the tent was pitched in
the field on the opposite side of the road to Grettaville. About
this time, plans were published by the Department of the Environment
for large-scale housing development in that area.
In August 1988, Grettaville came on the market and by the end of
November of that year the farmhouse, an adjoining out-building and
small plot of land (now the car park) had been acquired. Renovation
and conversion plans were speedily drawn up and the building was
opened on 29th April 1989. The original church held around eighty
people. In 1996, the church was extended and a balcony added leaving
the church now able to seat around 250 people. Assistant Pastor,
Alistair Quigley was installed in September 2004 and resigned in
December 2006; he is still a member of the congregation. Pastor
Robert Murdock was installed in June 1996 and left in November 2007.
The congregation are currently seeking a new Pastor.
