Drama students prepare for Island Arts Centre performance
Local drama students from Class Act Drama Academy
CLASS Act Drama Academy's Lisburn students have delighted their audiences of family and friends with their performances in the Island Arts Centre.
The showcase gave the young students the chance to put their acting and vocal abilities into practice with scripted plays, improvised plays, and creative movement pieces. Students aged 4-18 years of age performed during the presentation and received a rapturous reception.
Children in the youngest age group demonstrated their vocal skills by performing fun poetry activities, using fun rhymes and acted out poems to the general hilarity of their family and friends.
The next class then took centre stage. The highlight of this terms work for this age group was their presentation of The Three Little Pigs using choral speaking, character development and acting skills. The whole class participated in a comical improvisation loosely based on Horrible Histories.
The students further displayed their talents with a number of short scripts and two-handed improvisation.
The youth theatre displayed conviction and enthusiasm through their stage work. These young people, aged 11- 17, have undergone extensive voice training and acting tuition, stretching their existing talents and developing new ones during a Shakespeare-themed term. They demonstrated advanced acting techniques moving seamlessly from comedy to tragedy and back again.
Presenting the students with their certificates, medals and trophies for progress and achievement during the term, the class teacher, Miceala O'Neill, said: "This terms curriculum has provided a strong skills base for our forthcoming, fabulous summer productions which are performed in a professional theatre in June, where everyone gets the opportunity to display their talents and to shine like the stars we know they are.
Fortunately there are still some places available for this exciting project. No audition is required and the rehearsals are great fun, as we continue our development programme."
