University of Ulster Sport Exercise and Fitness Foundation Degree students from South Eastern Regional College's Lisburn Campus enjoying their recent two day team building challenge at the Share Centre Lisnaskea.
SPORT Exercise and Fitness Foundation Degree students at South Eastern Regional College were thrown in at the deep end at the beginning of their course when they went on an induction challenge at the Share Centre Lisnaskea.
The students from the College's Lisburn campus, who barely knew each
another before the trip, spent two days completing management games and
carrying out challenging team building activities
including abseiling, kayaking, archery, low ropes, canoeing, and banana
boating.
For many of the students it was their first experience of team-building.
Course lecturer Ronan McAnespy explained: "As well as helping the class bond and challenge their fears, it gave students the opportunity to identify their strengths as well as weaknesses and highlighted the importance of communication. It has given everyone an insight that they wouldn't normally see in their day-to-day activities. Students had to work together to overcome conflicts and challenges while learning to understand the different personalities and strengths of various team members.
"I'm very happy with the way they're tackling the course now. There's a real enthusiasm and buzz in the group as a direct result of getting them out there together."
