The new Colin Glen Marie Curie Fundraising Group was recently launched at Cloona House
A GROUP of people from the Colin area have come together to form a fundraising committee to support the Marie Curie Hospice.
The new group was established by local woman Marie Wisdom who was driven to launch the campaign after benefiting from the support and care the charity provides.
Marie set up the group after discovering there was not one fundraising group in West Belfast. After speaking to the Hospice Fundraising Managers from Marie Curie Cancer Care Marie set up the group with a team of volunteers.
Marie, who is now Chairperson of Colin Glen Fundraising Group, said: "I know there are many people from the area who have benefited directly or indirectly from the many services that Marie Curie Cancer Care provides. After speaking to a few friends, we decided that we would formalise a committee, and with the support of the Marie Curie fundraising team, we are happy to launch our group and present a schedule of fundraising events."
The group has organised a Street Collection on the Andersonstown Road on Friday March 2 from 9.00am — 6.00pm. This follows on from a roadside and street collection in December where motorists and passersby generously donated £676. And they are looking for volunteer fundraisers and committee members to support their campaign. If you are interested in volunteering or would like further information contact Gemma Burns, Volunteer Development worker at the Colin Neighbourhood Partnership on 9062 3813 or email Gemma on gemma@newcolin.com.
