TRINITY Methodist will see the return of Showcase Productions to the Lisburn stage on October 22.

' A Night at the Musicals', which is being run in conjunction with Lisburn Ladies Hard of Hearing Group, will be a magical evening full of wonderful songs from the shows including favourites from The Lion King, Jesus Christ Superstar, Mamma Mia, Calamity Jane, Mary Poppins, Phantom Of The Opera and Starlight Express to name but a few.

Joining Showcase Productions for this magical evening will be members from Ulster Operatic Company and New Lyric Operatic Company who have just won Best Overall Show with Pirates Of Penzance in the Buxton Festival.

Founded in 2000 by local actor and musician Simon Cunningham, Showcase Productions performed Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat in Priesthill Methodist for two sell out nights however they could have sold at least that again.

Now after a ten year break the company is back for one night only to raise funds and awareness for the Lisburn Ladies Hard of Hearing Group which is open to any lady with hearing impairment.
The group, which meet every second Monday of the month, was set up by Christine Houston the Sensory Support Social Worker who identified a need for people who had experienced hearing loss either since birth or later in life who, despite coping with demands of their daily lives, still felt quite isolated by their deafness.

They shared the feeling that their ability to cope with their deafness was compromised by the lack of awareness of others about the negative impact which hearing loss imposed.

The varied programmes organised each year enables the ladies to learn new skills, increase their knowledge of local resources available and for some to enhance their confidence and self esteem as a deaf person.

A Night At The Musicals is a perfect way to start off the year and raise some well needed funds in order to take part in the varied programme. This will certainly, be a night not to be missed. Tickets are available by calling Victoria on 028 9261 2443 or Barbara on 07907 049161 however there will be a limited number of tickets available at the door on the evening.
