BARBOUR Nursery School, in Lisburn's Hillhall area, were delighted recently when the Mayor of Lisburn, Councillor Allan Ewart, officially opened an extension to the school.
Parents, staff and honoured guests gathered in the new room to watch the children perform their Christmas Nativity concert. The Mayor then unveiled a plaque to commemorate the opening.
Guests at the ceremony included the Chief Executive of the South Eastern Education & Library Board, Mr Stanton Sloan, Douglas Osier, Chairman of the SEELB Commissioners, Tom Walsh (SEELB), Jeffrey Donaldson MLA. Trevor Lunn MLA, Mrs Truesdale, former Principal of the school, school governors and other SEELB representatives.
The Principal, Mrs Tracey Cassells, commented: "We are absolutely thrilled with our new extension. It is another wonderful addition to the school and will enable us to provide yet more exciting learning opportunities. The room has safety surface flooring which means that we can use it for large construction play, drama & music as well as for a multitude of climbing and physical activities. We are very grateful to the SEELB for funding the project which will help to sustain the excellent quality of education provided at the school_"
