FUSION Theatre recently joined forces with Lisburn company Rags & Rugs to raise money for a forthcoming trip to England. Fusion are travelling to Buxton, just outside Manchester, to compete in the youth section of the Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in July. Fusion will be performing their latest musical 'HMS Pinafore' at the festival, which has opened its doors to youth theatres for the first time.

With over 100 members travelling to Buxton, Fusion needed to raise a lot of money to help with the travel expenses. Fortunately Rags & Rugs were on hand to offer the group an unusual way of raising money by turning old clothes into cash. The group appealed for all their members to donate all their old clothes to Fusion Theatre.

'Rags & Rugs' collected all the bags, weighed them and then gave Fusion a cheque for £581.50

A spokesperson for Fusion said: "We were delighted and surprised how much we were able to raise by just collecting old clothes.

"The fundraiser took very little organisation but raised a fantastic sum of money which will contribute greatly to our travel expenses."

Fusion Theatre hope to run this fundraiser again, but in the meantime they are having and a James Bond Themed Casino Night at 7.30pm on April 17 in the Blaris Suite, St Patricks Parish Centre, Chapel Hill. Tickets are £12 and can be obtained at the door or from the Parish office.

Fusion are also appealing to companies to help sponsor a Fusion Theatre uniform to help identify them when travelling to Buxton. If you can help, please contact Amanda on 07891757150.
