SINGER, songwriter and host of UTV's Seven Thirty Show, Malachi Cush, was in Lisburn last week to officially open the nineteenth Northern Ireland Hospice Shop in the province.

Local people who gathered in support were offered the first look at the new Hospice shop in Longstone Street which sells a variety of quality donated items including clothing, bric-a-brac, household goods and books.

The Hospice Shop will play a vital role in helping the charity meet its annual £6m fundraising target.

Rachael Bell, Lisburn Hospice Shop manager, said: "We are absolutely delighted with the turn out at our opening. The support from everyone in the local community is heart warming. So many people have been calling with donations of goods, offering their spare time to volunteer and now the shop is open we are confident that we will build a loyal base of regular customers."

Neil Fowler, Hospice Retail Manager, said the shops were a vital part of Hospice fundraising.
"The money generated from our new Hospice Shop will go straight back into providing Hospice care within this area" he said.

"For the Hospice Community Service to continue supporting local adults, children and young people, they need as much help as possible. Supplying stock to the new Hospice Shop is a great way to do this as each bag of quality goods will raise more than £25 for this essential service". If you are interested in joining the Hospice Shop volunteer team, you can visit Rachael at the Lisburn Hospice Shop or phone 9266 9031.
