LOCAL children had the chance to meet and chat with their rugby heroes during a week of non-stop fun recently when they took part in an Ulster Rugby Summer Camp at Lisburn Rugby Club.

Dozens of boys and girls aged 6 — 12 years attended the five day camp to learn new skills under the supervision of qualified coaches. They also had an opportunity to talk to Ulster Rugby stars Stephen Ferris and TJ Anderson about their lives as professional players and to get their top tips on the game.

Participants also received a Summer Camp kit bag with T-shirt, Rugby ball and voucher to an Ulster Magners League match.

Ulster Rugby Summer Camps, sponsored by independent retail group Centra, have taken place at fourteen different province-wide locations this summer and have catered for almost 1,200 children.
This year there is also a Senior Camp based at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown, for 13-17 year old participants. The camp is aimed at boys and girls with previous rugby experience, and focuses on the technical, tactical, physical, mental and lifestyle aspects of Rugby Union.

Ulster Rugby has announced that places are still available at a number of the remaining Summer Camps. For further information or to register (£65 for junior camps and £85 for senior camps, with a discount for additional family members) email summercamps@ulsterrugby.com or telephone 028 9049 3111.
