A STAR performance within the Cadet movement has paid off handsomely for Lisburn Cadet Simon Sloan.

The Cadet Colour Sergeant, who is an enthusiastic member of the Lisburn Army Cadet Force Detachment, has been awarded his Four Star Cadet certificate which recognises achievement, commitment and progress in the Army Cadet Force,

Presenting the award, Colonel Hubert McAllister, Honorary Colonel of 2nd (NI) Battalion Army Cadet
Force said: "Achieving 4 star status is no mean feat, particularly when the work is juggled with school and other commitments, but our Cadets are nothing if not focused.

"Simon is happily typical of a group of young people who enjoy socialising and having fun, but who are also exceptionally determined and hard-working individuals.

"My congratulations go to Simon for the effort and enthusiasm which I know lie behind this latest achievement in his Cadet career — and may I also recognise the contribution made by the team of Adult Instructors who work tirelessly to ensure successes for all our Cadets?

"Once again Cadet membership is shown not only to be valuable and, indeed, enjoyable in itself but also an excellent vehicle for building a CV prior to embarking on life at college, university or in the world of work. '
