HISTORY

The Church of the Nazarene was founded in 1908 by the coming together of a number of Christian groups that believed in the Methodist doctrine, and is today, a worldwide denomination with over 12,000 churches. The Dromore Church of the Nazarene was founded in 1953 and met in a wooden building on the site of the existing church. The first minister was the Rev. James Macleod, who was well known for playing a concertina. The second minister, the Rev. Noel Somerville, was installed in January 1980. A former architect, he designed and drew the plans for the new church building that was erected in 1981.
